Just a quick question and a small rant. I am a UK citizen and have just returned from a few days in Italy. I was quizzed coming back to UK at [our] passport control. Simple questions but irksome all the same: Confirm where you are travelling from, how long have you been away, who are you travelling with, what's their name, what's your relationship to this person, give full address and postcode.and he wrote everything down, very slowly. It's never happened before and I may have just been lucky in the past, but it's the small things,after a holiday and long flight, that grate. Anyone else had a similar experience?

And yes, mountains out of molehills! It was a nice holiday though. I'm a Canadian non-resident. I get questioned every time I enter. I also get questioned every time I return to my home in the UK (usually about how I acquired my indefinite leave). As for questions about where you are coming from, how long you have been away etc., of course the have the right to ask them, Where you are coming from could, for example, be a Yellow Fever area, in which case you must produce your vaccination certificate.
